a bit of background
My name is Matthew Smith, though you can call me Smitty. I live just outside Chicago with my wife and two daughters, ages ten and four. I am passionate about helping others grow, using data to inform the conversation (baseball, work, social justice or any other topic), my family and the White Sox—in no particular order, of course. I received my undergraduate degree in history, focusing on Progressive Era politics, gender studies, the immigrant experience and labor. Two fun facts: I appeared in Time magazine's issue on The Blair Witch Project, and I was a professional baseball scribe during my two years as an MLB Featured Columnist for Bleacher Report.
